10 commands for our nursery |
|||
| 1.
Thou shalt report for duty in a timely manner and get ready for a time
of action, adventure and excitement. This is valuable work that you
are doing. You are freeing up other parents to hear the message in
church. Remember, Jesus welcomed the children with open arms.
2. Thou shalt accept no child at the Nursery without their parents checking them in. Label the child. Then label all of the child's belongings: diaper bag, bottle & pacifier, with masking tape. Write down any instructions from the parents. 3. Thou shalt concentrate on the task at hand. Sharpen up on your "baby talk, toddler chatter" and "Ring-around-the-Rosie." The children are your priority. 4. Thou shalt attempt to act in a mature, loving manner at all times during your tour of duty. How you act when you are not on Nursery duty is between you and the Lord. 5. Thou shalt accept no child into the Nursery who looks sick. If a child is sneezing, coughing or has one of those icky, runny noses, we will attempt to protect the healthy from the sick. Use your judgment and discretion in this matter. This is difficult, but important. 6. Thou shalt keep the box of tissues ready. They will come in handy in an assortment of ways, from wiping eyes, to noses, to baby bottoms! Yes, changing diapers is a real possibility, be mentally ready. 7. Thou shalt feel free to send last minute "volunteers" back into church or to help assist with another Sunday school class. It is possible to have too much help. 8. Thou shalt let one of the leaders know if supplies are running low, toys are broken, etc. Also new volunteers are always welcome. If you know someone who would like to be included on the schedule of workers, or if you are interested in ever serving as a Nursery Coordinator please contact one of the existing leaders. 9. Thou shalt stick around after the services are over, until you have handed children back to their parents. Then please remember that your work is not yet done. We need you to pick up toys and pack things up for the trailer. Leave the Nursery area neater than you found it. 10. When you receive a new volunteer schedule, thou shalt note when you are on it. And remember that you are responsible for finding your own replacement. A special thank you for our teens who have done an excellent job serving as Nursery workers. The Lord will reward you. |
