vision for children's programs

The Prairie View children's programs are dedicated to helping our children learn about Jesus Christ, know Him personally, grow in His likeness, and live for Him. We pursue this vision in partnership with each of our families.

Our Motto
"Learning, Knowing, Growing, and Living!"

Learning about Jesus
In our learning we strive to:

  • Create an atmosphere of love, affirmation, and safety.
  • Base all of our teaching on God's word, the Bible. We will do our utmost to share His truth accurately.
  • Present information in ways that is active, interactive, and engaging for children, tailored to their developmental levels and relevant to their own world.
  • Work in partnership with parents to achieve each family's spiritual goals for their children.

Knowing Jesus Personally
This is the cornerstone issue of faith and life, the most important decision a person can make. As we guide children towards a personal relationship with Christ, we remember:

  • This is a process-oriented experience, not an event, and our goal is to work together with the Holy Spirit to prepare the child to accept Jesus as his Forgiver and Leader.
  • The most effective tool in helping anyone discover Christ is prayer. We will pray regularly for and with the children we serve.
  • We will share the gospel of Jesus Christ on a regular basis. "Before they can believe in the Lord, they must hear about Him." -Romans 10:14
  • In order to discern whether a child has received Christ, you must first know them. We will seek to know and love each child individually.

Growing in His Likeness
Christians of every age should be continually maturing in their faith. While helping children grow in Christ we will:

  • Model the process ourselves by sharing our own select struggles, discoveries and victories.
  • Respect young believers as full members of Christ's body and help them grow into all the related privileges and responsibilities, such as worship and prayer.
  • Encourage them to hide God's Word in their hearts.

Living for Him
Believing that "Faith without works is dead," we encourage young Christians to demonstrate their faith by helping others:

  • Apply the truths of Scripture to their daily living.
  • Honor their parents, and share their relationship and growth in Christ with their families.
  • Build strong Christian friendships.
  • Begin reaching out to un-churched friends in love.
