Would You Like to Know God Personally?

Here are some thoughts for you to consider...

1. God Exists

He is your Creator. Because He loves you deeply and personally, He made you for a special purpose in life.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "Plans for welfare, and not calamity, to give you a future and a hope."
(Jeremiah 29:11)

2. The Bible is God's Word to Us

It is the complete and accurate communication of a loving God to people He cares about. It tells us all that we need to know about discovering true life, meeting God's standards for life and how to know God personally.

"All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness."
(2 Timothy 3:16)

3. Each of Us has Sinned Against God

Through active rebellion or passive indifference, we have broken God's holy laws. The consequence of sin is to be separated from God and ultimately, to experience His eternal punishment in hell.

"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...the wages of sin is death."
(Romans 3:23, 6:23)

4. God Sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be Your Savior and Mine

Jesus Christ is our Savior because of who He is: The Son of God, the Messiah, the Lord God Almighty in the flesh. He is also Savior because of what He did: He died for the sins you and I have committed and three days later, physically rose from the dead.

"Christ also died for sins, once for all, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God,"

(1 Peter 3:18)

In light of this information...

5. I must make a personal decision to believe in Jesus Christ

True believing is more than just an intellectual understanding of certain facts; it is a personal commitment of your heart and will. The Bible describes believing as:

  • Repentance (Acts 3:19): an attitude of turning away from our sins. You don't clean up your life in order to become a Christian, but turning to God includes recognizing what an awful thing sin is and turning from it.
  • Receiving (John 1:12): Just as I receive a gift by faith, I must reach out and take Jesus Christ into my heart and life.
  • Believing (John 3:16): I not only acknowledge who Jesus Christ is and what He did, but I believe in Him and, in my heart, embrace Him as my personal Savior (who can grant me forgiveness) and Lord (or God of my life).

What, if anything, would prevent you from committing you life to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?

What would compel you?

If you desire to make a sincere commitment to Jesus Christ and enter into a personal relationship with Him, you can begin by praying the following prayer to Him:

Lord Jesus, I need you. I believe in you. Thank you for dying on the cross for the sins I have committed. I ask you to forgive me for my sins and give me eternal life. I decide to know you as my personal Savior and Lord. I invite you to come into my heart and take control of my life. As I follow you, make me the kind of person you want me to be. Amen.
