OUR MISSION

Life Groups at Prairie View meet to build strong relationships between Christians, that will help us become fully devoted follower Christ.

An excellent yard stick for measuring what the life of a thriving Life Group consists of , is embodied in the "one another" commands found throughout the New Testament.  All 58 of these "one another" relationship verses are litmus tests for healthy Life Groups.

OUR PRACTICE

Prairie View Life Groups are specifically fellowship and prayer-based gatherings.

The essential experiences that we want Life Group  members at Prairie View to have are deep, meaningful fellowship and rich, regular prayer.  the two other "essential experiences" of church life described in Acts 2:42, teaching and breaking of bread, are provided for at Prairie View through our weekend service.

A blend of large, church-wide, public meetings and small, home-based, private meetings is the pattern of the early church in the book of Acts.  Both provide believers with a healthy, balanced spiritual diet.  It is our experience that emphasizing one at the expense of the other leads invariably to malnutrition.

This is in contrast to the typical pattern in American Christianity of a lay-person led "bible study," which is an information or knowledge-based gathering. Our whole purpose for meeting together in Life Groups is to develop our relationship with God and with each other, through our fellowship and prayer.

OUR DESIRE

Prairie View Life Groups will be central in expressing our Christian community to new members.

Consistent with our commitment to expand Christ's kingdom and help fulfill the Great Commission, our Life Groups will grow numerically and in time, "birth" new Life Groups.

With this in mind, we are committed to practicing hospitality towards our church visitors. We anticipate new folks joining all the time. And we will talk about multiplying from the beginning. When we reach six or seven couples, we will divide. We will be patient and recognize that, at times, it is painful when there is growth and multiplication.

We will celebrate our growth and the birth of new Life Groups.
